The CNN Ecosphere is a digital ecosystem growing from tweets using the hash tag #COP17. It is a living 3D visualisation of the global climate change discussion around the UN COP17 Conference held at the end of 2011. Every tweet tagged with #COP17 becomes part of one of the numerous plants representing topics like sustainability or carbon. Tweets mentioning similar issues were grouped together on branches, while new thoughts were planted as seeds, waiting to grow. Topic plants emerged and withered as trends shifted in the discussion, offering the user a real-time view of the evolving conversation.
