The Curious Paradox: Stammering In Our Society

This project sheds light upon stammering in our society. Those who stammer encounter uncomfortable and testing situations everyday that pass by unbeknownst to others. Through stretching and repeating letterforms that reflect the voice of the stammerer, this project creates a sense of pride and acceptance around the impediment. These typographic explorations allow for a person with fluent speech to relate to the stammerer — not only through how the text is spoken but also through the personal stories told throughout the publication. The project also addresses the fact that there is a distinct lack of material out there for stammerers.
