We Got Time

David Wilson’s debut promo saw him create this bewitching in-camera animation for Moray McLaren. Developing a technique based on the praxinoscope, one of the earliest forms of animation, Wilson personally hand drew, designed and animated every frame in a five week pre-production process. Wilson’s pre-production not only involved design but also cracking the science behind the frame rates, as well as the amount of facets needed on the praxinoscopes compared to cells of animation. No post production or compositing was used at all. The video won Best Budget Video in the 2009 Music Video Awards, while Wilson won Best New Director.
