We Choose the Moon

The Apollo 11 lunar landing was the realisation of JFK’s vision to land a man on the moon. For the landing’s 40th anniversary, we recreated the mission online in real time. At 9.32am on 16 July 2009, Apollo 11 took off again at wechoosethemoon.org. The trip was shown using 3D animation, 102 continuous hours of mission audio, and hundreds of images from NASA and the JFK Library. 650 of the most interesting audio transmissions were rebroadcast via Twitter. This campaign was also selected in the Digital Advertising/Animation category.
