Unmonumental Series

Rather than trumpet their impressive new building, the New Museum’s curators have conceived this book around the idea of un-monumentality. In so doing, they have zeroed in on a major new tendency in contemporary sculpture. Assembled from bits of the world at large, these artworks are powerful but patently anti-heroic. The design for the book should present the work clearly and respectfully while still conveying its fragmented character.
