The World's First Mosquito Repellent Newspaper

Mawbima, a mass market Sri Lankan newspaper, wanted to help fight dengue, the deadly mosquito-borne fever. By combining citronella essence with ink, they created the world's first mosquito-repellent newspaper. Awareness of Mawbima's campaign was pushed through press, outdoor and social media. When the paper was published on World Health Day 2014, every letter of every word helped stop dengue. Sales increased by 30% and the campaign earned praise around the world.
