Mugshots

To mark the 30th anniversary of Amnesty in Portugal, Fuel has created a press and poster campaign called Mugshots. In this campaign, we see file photos from the PIDE (the secret police when Portugal was under dictatorship) showing political prisoners. Under these, we see the same people photographed in the present day – alive, thanks to the intervention of institutions such as Amnesty. The campaign was inspired by the book ‘For Your Free Thought’ by Portuguese photographer João Pina, who photographed and interviewed dozens of Portuguese political prisoners.
