Made In The Dark LP

We were briefed to produce artwork to build on the positive reaction to the last Hot Chip campaign for 'The Warning'. This album artwork features a deliberately obscure and mysterious icon which we named 'The Artefact'. This icon builds on the elusive nature of the album title ('Made in the Dark') but deliberately doesn't explain it. These illustrations are featured throughout the packaging on the gatefold sections, booklets and even the discs themselves. The idea was to avoid direct artistic references and produce something that is both confrontational and desirable. Each artefact is embossed and printed with a copper ink to heighten the sense of it being a piece of packaging and not purely a flat artwork.
