Great British Fashion Stamp Set

Johnson banks was tasked with creating ten special stamps to showcase British fashion from the 1940s to the present day. Royal Mail worked closely with the V&A Museum to supply a list of potential designers whose work should be featured. The set had to include a mix of classic and innovative designs. Sølve Sundsbø was commissioned to photograph the models in dynamic, period-appropriate poses. To ensure that the focus was on the outfits rather than the models, johnson banks came up with a radical compromise: the models’ faces and hands were digitally removed, leaving the clothes to speak for themselves.
