Fuego Grill

The challenge in developing Fuego was to build a new genre of high-end barbecue that would create a more social experience, and through form, material, construction and finish create a product that is as much furniture as appliance. The key was the creation of an island form to facilitate both cooking and conversation. A low profile lid system was developed, which completely hides away when not in use and enables 360-degree cooking. For flexibility, a 'hot swap' cooking element drawer system was created, allowing users to simply switch between gas, charcoal and infra-red. Electronic controls were introduced to manage time and temperature. Finally, a simple architectural form and detail language was created featuring basic forms and streamlined surfaces.
