Bridge of Life

A large number of people jump off the Mapo Bridge in South Korea every year.Our idea to prevent further suicides was not simply to install a physical device to hinder the attempts, but to create an interactive bridge that would change people’s minds through communication. The sensors on the guardrails switched the lights on when people walked by and short messages appeared as if the bridge was speaking to passers-by. They included warm and kind words that appeased the anxious and confused minds of those attempting to end their lives.
