A Boy and His Atom

When IBM scientists announced they could store one bit of information on 12 atoms instead of the million it now takes, they wanted to promote the breakthrough to everyone, not just the tech community. Sounds dry, until you consider it's done by moving individual atoms. We asked, “Can you move enough atoms to make a stop motion film?” They could. And the World’s Smallest Movie was born. The film – which owns the Guinness World Record for World’s Smallest Stop-Motion Film – debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival’s online festival and streamed to more than 13,000 students around the world.
