Tom is a graduate of the National Film and Television school in the UK. His short films have won numerous awards - Bait and Going Down were nominated for a Best Short Film Bafta two years in a row. Tom went on to direct two feature films - W∆Z (aka The Killing Gene) and The Children. The Children was nominated for and won a number of awards on the international genre film circuit and has become a bit of a cult film amongst horror film fans.

Tom has also directed award-winning, high end TV Drama in the both the UK and America, including House of Cards for Netflix and The Leftovers for HBO. Tom directed the pilot for The Punisher, for Marvel/Netflix. For the BBC, Tom directed all eight episodes of The Missing, which received both BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations. For his work on this show, Tom was nominated for a Best Director award at the 2015 Emmys. Tom’s past TV work also includes The Fades (Bafta winner for Best Drama Series) and he directed the pilot episode for Ripper Street, which was also Bafta nominated for Best Drama Series. In commercials Tom has been nominated for a BTA award for a Guardian commercial and was also included in the Saatchi’s New Director showcase. After two years working in the US, Tom returned to the UK to work on The City and The City, (BBC 2) - a Tony Grisoni adaptation of the China Mieville novel. Tom's most recent work was on Andrew Davies' critically acclaimed adaptation of Les Miserables for the BBC.

Following their adventures on Ripper Street, Tom began collaborating with writer, Richard Warlow on a longtime passion project based on the hippie trail serial killer, Charles Sobhraj, which will be Tom's next production – The Serpent.
