Communications, designs and initiatives that have had a beneficial and proven impact on the world.
Work must be commercially released and you must be able to evidence the impact it's had. Re-entry into this category year-on-year is permitted if you can show that additional impact has been created and submit work into the Sustained Solution subcategory. When entering Impact you have the chance to win up to a Black Pencil and are eligible for all other categories within D&AD Awards, except Future Impact.
The Impact Council will all be participating in the first round of judging.

Subcategories

You can enter your work in the following subcategories.

  • 6001 - Advertising

    Creative communications, engagements and experiences that have resulted in behavioural, environmental, social or policy change and are benefiting society.
  • 6002 - Design

    Designs that have resulted in behavioural, environmental, social or policy change and are benefiting society. Could be a product, digital or service design that has improved circumstances, access or quality of life.
  • 6003 - Initiative

    Acts or strategies that have resulted in behavioural, environmental, social or policy change and are benefiting society. Includes business initiatives, community projects and service innovations.
  • 6004 - Local Solution

    For campaigns, products, service designs and initiatives that are benefiting a specific region or local area such as a neighbourhood, village, town or city.
  • 6005 - Sustained Solution

    Campaigns, designs and initiatives that have updated an original idea and pushed it forward, generating sustained behavioural, environmental, social or policy change over time. The work must have been launched prior to 1 January 2019 and be active within the current eligibility window for this category (1 January 2019 - 18 April 2022). Work does not need to have been submitted previously into D&AD Impact or Creativity for Good.
  • 6006 - Upstream Innovation

    Solutions designed to fit within a circular system, where an upstream innovation approach has been applied and waste is being prevented. For solutions that are reusable, returnable, recyclable or compostable. A fifth judging criteria applies to this subcategory: Is the design circular? The design must take an upstream innovation approach i.e. there is a genuine need for the product and it can be reused, returned, recycled or composted.
  • 6007 - Collaboration

    Work created from a collaboration between two or more parties, that's resulted in behavioural, environmental, social or policy change.
  • 6008 - Creative Use of Budget

    Work that brings a creative idea to life, where the output exceeds expectations set by a low budget. Includes pro bono work. You will need to state the production budget and justify your reasons for entering here.

Jury
