The Talk

The Legends of Design is a series hosted by Michael Johnson of Johnson Banks, dedicating a series of evenings to the life and work of landmark figures in design.

Second in the series is Mike Dempsey. After cutting his teeth as an art director in publishing he started Carroll & Dempsey in 1979, which later became CDT. For three decades their work criss-crossed stamp design, film titles, print and corporate identity, and included stand-out projects for the Royal Mail, London Chamber Orchestra and English National Opera. Mike is a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI), a long-time member of AGI, an ex-D&AD President – and the winner of nine Yellow Pencils, one Black Pencil – and a special, one-off 50th Anniversary Pencil.
