Kikuchi Naruyoshi: Jazz
Graphite Pencil / Graphic Design / Posters (Graphic Design) / 2013
Naruyoshi Kikuchi is one of the most famous jazz musicians in Japan. He neededa poster to decorate Bureau Kikuchi, his new office. We wanted to visualise the dramatic reverberations of Kikuchi’s jazz performances. We chose ‘ripples of sparkle’ as a motif because ripples symbolise sound waves, jazz music suits night time, and the ripples on the black paper look like a loudspeaker. These posters were hung from the ceiling, waving in the wind. They looked different depending on the light around them.
