Google Chrome Speed Tests

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Film Advertising Crafts / Sound Design for Film Advertising / 2011

Since there is no benchmark for speed on the internet, we created one and dubbed it ‘Chrome Fast’. To demonstrate how fast ‘Chrome Fast’ really is, we created the ‘Chrome Speed Test’ films, comparing the rendering speed of Google’s Chrome browser against extremely fast things in real life: a potato gun, sound waves, and lightning. We filmed everything in slow motion with no CG effects, capturing them as live science experiments. The result was an engaging way to visualise speed and prove that Google Chrome is a very fast browser indeed.
