Publication design for “In the Mirror”, the first book to honor Chidy Wayne, a Barcelona-based, Spanish-Guinean imagemaker, whose practice spans painting, sculpture, illustration and music. Likewise, it is the very first book from the Creative Voyage imprint. At its heart, "In the Mirror” is a collaboration between artist and publisher that culminates in a celebration of the new, fine-arts focused chapter of Wayne’s creative career.

This tome, a meticulous assembly in the realm of ancient manuscript curation, unfolds through a trio of distinctively sized volumes cradled within an atypically shaped casing. Its essence is ingeniously derived from a septet of treasured manuscripts penned by Sino-French Sinologists in the heart of the 1940s. These three volumes, born from a thoughtful resizing of the original scripts to a harmonious eighty percent of their initial magnitude, have been adeptly reassembled, breathing new life into these scholarly relics.

A dish is only as good as what it's like when it's delivered. No matter how good the chef, the ingredients, or restaurant, if it’s delivered badly, it’s ruined. In short, the delivery is a crucial ingredient in the recipe. There are many ways to ruin a dish in transit: mixed in the bag, soaked by a drink, dropped, or just late, what arrives is often a magical new creation. Deliveroo launched The One-Star Cookbook, a tongue-in-cheek collection of 36 dishes, inspired by real online one-star reviews of delivery disasters among Deliveroo's competitors.

Final Words serves as a rebuttal to capital punishment in America. It aims to show that the 578 prisoners executed in Texas no matter if they are guilty or innocent, they are people with rights, deserving of dignity. It the juxtaposition of the prisoner’s mug shot & court record and their final words, spoken in the death chamber that produces a testament to the prisoners’ humanity. It makes a powerful contribution to the critical discourse we, must engage in. It calls on our deepest conscience to work for social change. Remaining silent in the face of injustice is to choose darkness for all.

Final Words

This book is based on the idea of a pegboard, the sheet material used in workshops to hang tools. The story and simple illustrations are created around the system of perforations, which can be used to add wooden pegs, straws or colorful yarn in order to customise or change the meaning of the illustrations. The book provides a simple modular canvas for children to explore and create. Beyond its life as a book, it can be played with and integrated with other toys. This is a novel format, to our knowledge never achieved in a in a board book, and it embodies Owl & Dog Playbook's ethos.
