The Prayer
Brand South Africa tasked The Odd Number with coming up with a piece of communication that would call out the spate of xenophobic violence taking place. The solution came in the form of the national anthem. Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika is a plea to God to bless Africa and save its people. A plea foreign nationals make in light of the vicious attacks against them. This was brought to life in an online film that depicts a Nigerian man under xenophobic attack, reciting a prayer in his home language of Igbo. The words echo that of the national anthem, demonstrating that Africans are one people.
