The objective was to create a new series of cinematic idents that offer a framework to Film4's TV content. Each core ident had to be flexible enough to contain multiple play outs but ambiguous enough not to fall solely into film genres. The resulting 16 idents represent a digital reinvention of the classic celluloid film strip using a technique achieved largely in-camera. Referencing Rubber, Moonrise Kingdom, the Shining and the Graduate, hundreds of films nods are featured in the idents, paying homage to moments of cinematic history whilst including more covert references for the more discerning film fan.
