London Symphony Orchestra – Dancing on the Edge of a Volcano
Superunion was asked to create a campaign for Dancing On The Edge of a Volcano, London Symphony Orchestra’s new season of music, composed when Europe (1900-1940s) was socially and politically volatile. Inspired by the season’s title, Superunion collaborated with a dancer to create a live action, abstract and tension-fuelled film. To stay true to LSO’s visual identity (derived from motion capture data of the conductor), the dancer choreographed her sequence to faithfully follow the conductor’s movement. Expressive dance with flares and smoke grenades was also filmed. The final film was digitally composited.
