As Singapore entered a new decade, the Ministry of Communications and Information wanted to make a Chinese New Year short film to pay tribute to the 'Merdeka Generation' – those who were born just before Singapore's independence in 1965, and who laid the foundation for the nation with their selflessness. So we created a story about the unique bond between a father and his precious son. One that encapsulates the spirit of the Merdeka Generation, and reminds us to thank them for their sacrifices.
