Save Our Libraries
A 50% cut in government funding for Ontario library services led to immediate layoffs and programme cancellations. The Save Our Libraries campaign imagined a future where all public funding for libraries was lost, and replaced by invasive ads and product placements. Now the iconic chant of ‘All for one, one for all!’ in the Three Musketeers serves as a segue to promote a two for one pizza sale. The message was clear: If we don’t support public libraries, someone else will. More than 100,000 signatures later, the government has clawed back some cuts, but the battle is ongoing.
