Hide & Seek
On Refuge, one of the main challenges was concealing the plot from the beginning of the film. The sound of the boy counting down had to drive the film, and leave viewers feeling raw and uncomfortable once they realised that he wasn’t playing hide and seek but instead counting down to distract from his parents' arguments.
