In Conversation: Mónica Moro on Press & Outdoor
Mónica Moro, D&AD Press & Outdoor Jury President and Chief Creative Officer of McCann Spain, discusses the year’s best press and poster advertising, the latest trends and technologies impacting the category, and how to make award-winning work.
Moro takes a human approach to creative work, which she has tapped further into in the wake of Covid-19. “For me it is something that is natural. I don’t think that brands are here just to sell things…We care about the brands that care about us,” she says.
We have to act, not react
The jury president’s Black Pencil pick for Press & Outdoor is Moldy Whopper by INGO Stockholm, Stockholm, David Miami and Publicis Worldwide for the idea, the execution and the level of craft. She also loves the Go Back to Africa campaign by FBC/SIX for its use of AI and its cleverness.
Coming out of a period of pitching on Zoom and the industry existing on survival mode, Moro doesn’t want ambitions to shrink with budgets as the world navigates the impact of coronavirus. “We have to act, not react,” she notes.
