While there is a decline in HIV infection worldwide, the Philippines is on an upward trend. Six new infections are recorded everyday. UN reported almost 5000 new HIV cases in 2013 or 79% increase. Unprotected sex remains the leading cause of transmission. Like any strong-family oriented country, HIV in the Philippines is a disease that affects not only the infected individual but their families as well. For every one person diagnosed with HIV, there is a family that also suffers.
