Aliyah Hasinah is a curator, director & writer of Jamaican and Bajan heritage. Her practice has centered decolonial and international perspectives of being, loving and sharing knowledge. Her curatorial offerings include the internationally acclaimed exhibition 'The Past is Now' at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (2017), Decolonising the Curatorial Research Project (2019) Black Bald Girls by Ruth Sutoyé (2019), Loving (2021) and more.
In 2020 Aliyah founded Black Curatorial, a company aimed at supporting Black curators across the UK and Caribbean to play and experiment more within their practice through Lab spaces and communal sharing. Aliyah also works as a conceptual creative across the advertising and commercial creative world. She is currently a Jerwood Curatorial Fellow 2022-23 and her expertise lies in developing programmes for emerging creatives across the third and commercial sectors, having previously done so for Birmingham Rep, Birmingham Hippodrome, D&AD, Art Fund and Metallic Inc.
Aliyah was also the D&AD Shift with Google Producer for 2021.
