Before founding Kiss, Poonam worked on high profile clients including Heineken, Pizza Express and Coca Cola in creative strategic roles at Bulletproof. Today, she is a valuable ally to Kiss's clients, providing support and guidance along the branding journey.
A snapshot of why Poonam started Kiss:
"Kiss was initially set up because we wanted a better work life balance and have a more fulfilling relationship with clients. So using our skills and knowledge of brand we chose to help people who wanted to positively disrupt and challenge markets, business or society. But this challenger aspect has a much deeper rooted reason for me and it starts with my Mum.
My mum is an exceptionally talented chef and tailor. She came from India with these fantastic talents and skills but no one helped her leverage them into opportunities. There were many barriers she faced like being a woman in a punjabi family, being on a low income etc. But the most saddening barrier for me was she had no one in her life that could show her the way to a better future through her talents. This pained me growing up and I found it totally unfair.
But now, I’ve got the contacts and skills to make things happen for people through brand. Working in brand fulfils that urge to help people get recognised for their talents. This is a deep rooted value for me, if people are doing good and have talent then they should be valued and celebrated. And at least through branding I can give them the best looking appearance and voice to get them recognition and to be finally heard".
