My name is pronounced exactly the way it's spelled. Jazz, like the music and mine, like the possessive pronoun. My mom gave me this name because jazz was the only way to get me to move in the womb. In that dark place, the jazz became mine and creative expression became my friend.
Much like jazz, I am not a monolith. I'm a woman of many talents and skills. Above all else, I'm an artist and art director with a knack for unveiling the beauty in everything and telling stories in extraordinary and compelling ways. My interests in art history, poetry, and psychology, along with my fashion design background, life, culture, and faith, inform the way I create. Through my work, I explore the way composition, color, line, texture, typography, and symbolism communicate and evoke visceral responses in the viewer.
Since graduating college in 2016, I’ve designed and created a diverse portfolio of work for films, blogs, fashion brands, beauty brands, and musicians. I’ve had the pleasure of working with names big and small like Target, Grotto Network, SOZE Agency, Nowadays, I conceptualize, design, and produce projects that speak to my purpose — sharing the humanity, beauty, and real stories of the BIPOC community with a focus on Black women — while, also, working with brands and businesses to elevate theirs.
I'm eager to connect and collaborate with new people and companies to engage their audiences, positively impact the BIPOC community, and work on personal projects to continue telling real stories in a beautiful way. Looking ahead, I hope to continue my practice as an artist and found an agency/creative studio to share more BIPOC stories and create space for authenticity and vulnerability in the media for Black women.
