Filmawi is a multi disciplinary artist from East London, whose work originates in photography, creative direction and moving image.
Shortly after moving to London he was handed his first disposable camera by his mother at the age of 8, forming his own language and understanding of the frame. Hard to put down ever since, his photographic portfolio now boasts clients in advertising and music such as Chance the rapper, Donae'o, Dizzee Rascal, Jessie Reyez and many more.
After winning the prestigious AdCan awards with his entry for 'Open Cinema' and D&AD new blood for Shutterstock, Filmawi was introduced into the world of production, briefly signing to Partizan, before shortly working agency side as an art director for AMVBBDO.
Interested in social causes as well as a finger on the pulse with urban music, Filmawi has art directed campaigns for Sadiq Khan's 'London Needs You Alive' Anti-Knife Crime, and won a D&AD award for work with the Met Police. Amongst these his commercial work spans for brands such as Dewar's, Pepsi, National Lottery and Smart Energy.
Currently, Filmawi is working on a number of music led projects as well as focusing on stills.
