Gemma is a Head of Design for Everyday Banking at Barclays, leading a team of digital designers and overseeing core journey experiences for all segments of customer. She plays a key role in pivoting the bank’s mindset to put customer research, insight and design at the heart of every proposition and financial service. Gemma is passionate about understanding how unexpected changes in circumstances and our emotional states effect our judgement and decision making on money. Vulnerability exists in all types of people and doesn’t discriminate based on the size of your bank balance, Gemma is keen to drive empathy and understanding of human conditions and behaviours to help transform the way the bank supports its customers.
Gemma has 18 years commercial experience, crafting delightful and award winning user experiences. Prior to Barclays, she also led design teams at the BBC and worked across Sport, CBBC, CBeebies and Bitesize.
