Chief Creative Officer / Dieste
With over 15 years of experience in the United States as well as international experience in Latin America, Ciro Sarmiento is one of the most talented and respected creatives in our industry. His work has been recognized in D&AD, Cannes, Clio, Effie, One Show and Latin American award shows through the years. He has also served as jury in several festivals worldwide.
Ciro began his career at Ogilvy & Mather. In 2005, he was promoted Creative Director managing a fully staffed creative team and acquiring high-profile brands like GlaxoSmithKline, Gillette, Motorola and Kimberly-Clark. Appointed in 2006 as Creative Director for the GlaxoSmithKline Hub, he overviewed operations for Central America (Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama) and the Caribbean (Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago). In 2008 he was considered one of the 2 best Creative Directors in Colombia according to P&M, the top 1 ad magazine in the country.
Ciro moved back to the United States in 2008 and worked in LatinWorks as Creative Director. During this time, his expertise in the development of truly innovative work helped LatinWorks become No.9 in the Ad Age nation wide Agency A-List 2011. That same year Ciro won the first Gold Lion in a campaign category for the U.S. Latin market, among other important recognitions.
In 2012 he joined Leo Burnett as Creative Director for Procter & Gamble and Kellogg’s Multicultural. In only a few months, Ciro re-built the creative team and one of his achievements during his stay in Burnett was the coveted Cannes Press Lion for his P&G client. He and his team were also responsible for developing the first bilingual Rolling Stone magazine in its 45-year history.
In summer of 2013, he joins Dieste as Executive Creative Director in charge of all the agency’s clients including AT&T, Miller Lite, Hershey’s, Goya Foods, Dallas Pets Alive and others. For his high creative standards and leadership he was selected as “One Latin creative you should know in the United States” by Digiday. In the last year, Ciro won the first D&AD pencils, the first 2 Cannes Lions, the first Clios and the first One Show pencils for Dieste. He took the role of Chief Creative Officer in February 2016.
