After publishing “Mad Women – A Herstory of Advertising”, I’ve become the Mad Women of Swedish advertising. The book inspired a well-needed debate on the gender imbalance within the ad industry, which exists - even in a Sweden. The book really grew out of 25 years’ of frustration of most often being the only woman at the table, at agencies, in panel debates and in juries. The frustration of not seeing representation in what we produce. I long for diversity, relevance and agencies built on new values and norms. After 18 years as a copywriter and 12 as a Creative Director, most recently at Ogilvy, I therefore started UKnight to focus on changing the norms and structures of our industry, promoting diversity and relevance. I hope to see this change before I retire to Italy, hopefully always close to my l husband, my two sons and my dog Chelsea (yes, because of the football team!)
