Lee Baker has had an extraordinary and eclectic creative career, which began 25 years ago as a scenic artist for English National Opera and The National Theatre. Accomplished fine artist, award winning television music composer, creative director and lead spatial designer at ProduceUk - Drum Awards Event Agency of the Year, Lee Baker is perhaps best known as the co-founder of ambitious and provocative art initiatives including Graphic Rewilding and SKIP Gallery.
SKIP Gallery is an international, collaborative, multi-disciplinary public art project dedicated to creating much needed space, opportunities, funding and advocacy for emerging artists by repurposing skips for artistic interventions in unexpected places. Since its inception in 2017, SKIP Gallery has curated and funded 23 shows, and its participating artists reads like a roll call of what’s exciting about the contemporary creative scene. SKIPHouse, their most recent collaboration, broke the internet and courted press and tv from around the world.
Furthering the ethos of SKIP Gallery and drawing inspiration from his own inner-city childhood and his personal introduction to nature through gaming platforms, Graphic Rewilding sees Baker’s brightly-coloured, maximalist floral murals bridging the gap between digital creativity and ancient, traditional art. Placing epic and impactful art installations into urban, public environments, Baker’s large-scale artworks encourage people to connect with nature, and each other, building a sense of real world community that transcends class barriers and generational divides.
Parallel to these offerings Lee has been continually creating music for the record industry and television. Having produced top ten albums, his music has become a staple of Uk television, appearing on many of the Uk’s best known and award winning shows, adverts and idents.
