Jacqui McAssey explores strategies for styling, aspects of contemporary photography within the wider subjects of fashion, fandom and sport. She has recently self-published ‘Girlfans’ an ethnographic study of female football supporters. The photo-zine is a response to the Football Association statistics from the 2013/14 season which stated that 23% of football supporters attending games were female. ‘Girlfans’ documents who they are and how they dress.
She co-authored a comprehensive book on fashion styling for Bloomsbury/AVA Academia’s popular ‘Basics’ series. Entitled ‘Fashion Design 08: Styling’ the publication provided a platform to showcase work produced by students alongside professional examples by international photographers and stylists.
