Frank Budgen sadly passed away this week aged 61. He worked at respected agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, BMP and BBDO, directing commercials from 1985. In 1997 Frank co-founded production studio Gorgeous Enterprises.
His groundbreaking commercials included Mountain and Play-Doh for Sony, Cartoon for NSPCC, as well as a Black Pencil for Levi's Twist. He was perhaps best known for Double Life for Sony Playstation, and Last Orders for Stella Artois.

In 2012 at D&AD's 50th Celebration, Frank was awarded the title of Most Awarded Director of all time (a tie with Tony Kaye) winning over 150 Pencils. Here's the tribute video produced by D&AD to commemorate this achievement.
The D&AD Professional Awards celebrate commercial creativity in categories such as Film Advertising and Crafts for Advertising. If you think you have a commercial or campaign that deserves a D&AD Pencil, why not enter it and see if our board of judges agrees.
