These projects have been celebrated at the D&AD Awards for their brilliant use of music, sound design, innovation in radio or use of digital marketing.

Adventures of Poco Eco

Wood Pencil / Digital Marketing / Games / 2015
Client iamyank

Adventures of Poco Eco is an exploratory mobile adventure game focussing on music within an extraordinary visual world. Created to promote the new album from acclaimed Hungarian musician/producer iamyank, the aim was to reach a wider audience and generate global excitement around a locally known artist. Downloading the game grants customers access to iamyank's new album Lost Sounds, which also serves as the soundtracks to the game, and forms an integral part of its gameplay and narrative.

Spot Against Silence

Wood Pencil / Radio Advertising / Innovative Use of Radio / 2015
Agency DM9DDB
Client Amnesty International

In Brazil, 60% of human rights violations go unreported to the authorities, out of fear, shame and ignorance. To inspire victims to break their silence, DM9DDB São Paulo did just that. Radio signals are usually lost inside tunnels. The agency saw this as a great opportunity to raise their voices against silence. They installed FM transmitters inside long tunnels. Then, in partnership with Brazil's biggest radio stations, they ran radio spots encouraging people to report cases of mistreatment to Amnesty International.

Hacking Richter

Graphite Pencil / Crafts for Design / Sound Design & Use of Music for Websites & Digital Design / 2015
Agency Denkwerk
Client Interactive Cologne

Interactive Cologne is a digital conference well known among coders and the digitally-savvy. Denkwerk took it to the next level by rousing the interests of people outside this group. The digital agency hosted an event that saw advanced technology coalesce to create an emotional concert experience. The IP addresses of visitors' smartphones were manipulated and transformed into a sequence of notes, which was fed through the Cologne Cathedral organ. At the same time, the smartphones created a light show in the 72 colours of the cathedral's stained glass window.

Night Walk in Marseille

Wood Pencil / Digital Marketing / Websites / 2015
Agency 72andSunny
Client Google

To motivate more people to experiment with their products, Google created a documentary film combined with an innovative interactive experience. The film told the emotional story of one woman's quest to document her city, and ended with a seamless transition into an immersive website that allowed users to explore Marseille using Google Street View. The experience utilises binaural sound technology to immerse users in the natural sounds of the city.

Merry Beeping Christmas

Wood Pencil / Film Advertising Crafts / Sound Design for Film Advertising / 2015
Agency Publicis
Client Oral B

Christmas is a time of joy. But it's also a time of minor frustrations. Rather than depicting the flawless familial festivities found in most Christmas ads, this film features the imperfect moments, the stepping barefoot on rogue decorations, the running out of wrapping paper, the burning the turkey. The swear words that typically accompany these instances are censored by tonally shifting beeps that combine to match the melody of popular carol We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

The Sound of Wind

Wood Pencil / Film Advertising Crafts / Sound Design for Film Advertising / 2015
Agency Ogilvy & Mather (New York)
Client Siemens

In 2014, MidAmerican Energy chose Siemens to manufacture the year's largest order of onshore wind turbines. To celebrate, Siemens and Ogilvy & Mather New York enlisted musician Will Bates to tell the story of how Siemens is turning wind power into a tangible energy solution for America. The resulting film follows Will in Iowa as he captures the sounds of wind, recording a vast library of audio, from wind chimes on porches and laundry on a clothesline to the whirring of 100 foot turbine blades. Will arranges the audio to create a beautiful rendition of Strauss' Blue Danube.
