  Better Together

Brief: Monotype

This is a redesign and revival of Moon Type, originally created by William Moon in 1845. The new version is designed alongside a custom Roman script which together form Moon Two, which aims to bridge the gap for children with normal sight and those who are visually impaired, who are often required to choose either visual language or a tactile alternative at the early stages of education. The Better Together campaign showcases Moon Two's legibility for sight impaired children and those who lose their sight in later life, using shape as a structure, over patterns such as Braille.

Brief: Amnesty International

Imagine your family didn’t know where you were or if you were even alive. We went to Calais and found out that this is a reality faced by many refugees. Who, without a credited SIM card, can't call home. For most other young adults, despite spending most of our time on our phone, we rarely call home – just once every two weeks on average. Every Minute Matters looks to solve both these issues and make injustice personal in a simple and meaningful way. When you call home, they can call home.

  Ford Fu

Award: White Pencil / New Blood Awards / 2016

Brief: Ford

A synthesis of traditional lucky charms and Ford’s InfoCycle and E-Bike technology, Ford Fu (福) enables safe urban mobility for Shanghai’s elderly. With discrete proximity pings and buzz alerts, the nifty token provides timely reminders for users on both sides of the road. A click of the charm sends a GPS check-in to a registered loved-one, two clicks dials a taxi to that location, and a third alerts emergency services. Collected data identifies real distress points for the future, truly restoring the safety and joy of mobility, one tech-confident granny at a time.

Brief: White Pencil

Air pollution is a major climate problem in the world. It causes over 3 million deaths every year. People seem to be uninterested in that, sure about the fact that governments will reach a solution, but they don’t know they are the solution yet. By washing clothes with a photocatalytic water solution, people can absorb every day the same amount of nitric oxide produced by a car. WWF will organize a marathon with the aim of spreading the message and turning each person into a human filter.
