“Even experienced designers can come a cropper when designing for mobile.”Thea Frost
You'll be hard-pressed to find a more impressive expert in mobile application design than Thea Frost. After gaining a first in classics from Cambridge, she joined the social and digital agency, Marvellous. She started as an Interaction Designer, but soon learned that she enjoyed devising strategy rather then being involved in its implementation. She worked her way up to become Creative Services Director, then finally achieved her ambition to become Strategy Director at Marvellous.
In 2011, she co-founded digital agency, Somewhat, with Jon Carney, becoming its Strategy partner. Thea explains that Somewhat’s aim is to build beautiful digital and mobile products, specialising in designing mobile first, mobile application UI and UX design and platforms that enable brands’ current and future relevance. Those brands include Coca-Cola, Chelsea Football Club, Tesco and Samsung, all of which Thea has worked on.
Thea’s session teaches a design process that has been created solely for mobile applications. You will learn what is unique about mobile, understand the benefits of designing mobile first and have the terminology explained to you, and find out what is technically possible and what is not.
To achieve this, Thea will take you through the production of a mobile app, from brief, concept, design, and then into build. She will share with you bespoke mobile checklists. In short, anyone looking for mobile design training courses will find themselves more able to create a better mobile product after this professional development course. Be aware, though, that there is no coding involved in the workshop. Just brainwork.
