Creativity as a Catalyst for Change — a D&AD Masterclass with WeTransfer

While creativity for good is a personal and business imperative for many, this creative course will explore how to turn this awareness and intention into action. Led by creative change-makers, all working towards a more sustainable and purpose-driven future in their chosen fields, this course will build creative confidence to bring world-changing ideas to life, from concept to creation.

Split across 3 modules, this free on-demand course will break down the complex landscape of using creativity for good, how to establish your personal views and match these with the realities of the commercial creative industries. Across this creative impact course you’ll hear from creatives behind purpose-driven marketing campaigns, including the D&AD black-pencil winning initiative Boards of Change and Rivers of Light, and uncover how they sought to understand the audience and employ creative solutions.

This course includes exercises to apply the techniques that you cover and case studies to see the realities of using creativity as a catalyst for change and impact. You’ll end this course with information to apply to your day-to-day work and to educate your colleagues and clients.

A big thanks to our partners, WeTransfer, for making this creativity course possible and available for you for free.

Throughout this creativity as a catalyst for change course, you will cover:

Module 1 - The impact of creative impact: Knowing where to start

Start the journey of creativity for impact by understanding the landscape and opportunities available. Our free creative course is taught by creative change-makers Thomas Kolster and this module will help you establish your own moral standpoint and embed this into your professional work. Be inspired by case studies from FCB Chicago, WeTransfer and Futerra, and be equipped with techniques to challenge briefs and clients on the topic of impactful creative work.

Module 2: The Purpose Problem: Knowing the right thing to do

Module 2, led by sustainability consultant Hannah Phang, will help you move from concept to creative with a process of bringing impactful creative ideas to life. Employ empathy to understand both the challenge and the audience being affected, and have techniques to dive in deep to develop an authentic approach to solving a problem.

Module 3: Intention to Action: Using creativity to enact change

Lastly, our course will cover how creativity fits into the equation with Naresh Ramchandani, Partner at Pentagram and founder of Do The Green Thing. Learn how to use creativity to build impact that extends beyond one-off initiatives, how to ensure you are considering the most sustainable methods of production and measuring the impact of your work.
