Beer advertising typically conforms to a trope: talking to an in-crowd of customers who are already engaged. Brands positioning their green credentials tend to do the same. But when a brand is making a product that benefits the planet simply by consuming it, suddenly that makes it relevant to everyone. The idea behind The Planet’s Favourite Beer was to show that BrewDog really had the ‘beer for all’, whether customers drink BrewDog beer or not. As such, the film showed the different lives led by BrewDog’s customers as well as non-customers, and highlighted how its carbon negative credentials makes it the planet’s favourite beer.
