Plastic bags are no longer free in Japan, and the use of eco-friendly bags has increased more than ever before. Dentsu Tokyo created an eco bag with re-used fishing nets that would have otherwise been thrown away. Fishing nets are also a contributor to plastic waste in the oceans, and these bags help reduce both industrial and household waste, while a portion of sales are donated to environmental conservation groups. The initiative conveyed these environmental issues to readers and helped to make real change using the eco bags themselves as a new medium.
