The New York Times is dedicated to innovating in print, so the New York Times Mag Labs produces singular, visually-driven, print-only broadsheet sections. In 2019 the paper published a handful of these sections to surprise and delight readers. Since their inception in 2016, these sections have become an anticipated feature of the Sunday paper. The New York Times published six special issues in 2019 on a number of topics, but each with its own powerful visual approach.
