During the competitive, holiday season, Macy’s launched “Space Station” to stake their claim as a gifting authority.
In the story, a clever girl surprises her astronaut mom with an endearing gift – hidden inside a cardboard doll, called Sunny – which results in a delightful snowfall in space. The wonder of this gift touched the mom character – as well as consumers.
Sunny appeared as a float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, in store windows, and as a plush toy. The ad earned over a billion impressions and drove a rise in social discussion about Macy’s through Nov. and Dec.
