Day One is a NYC-based organization dedicated to reducing sexual abuse and violence among teens. But not all abuse is physical. To highlight that misperception, we created a short animated film that lulls the viewer into thinking they are watching a beautiful love story, set to the classic track “Walking on Sunshine.” by Katrina and the Waves, until it takes a dark, ironic twist.
The film had over 13 million views and over 350 thousand shares. Viewers took it upon themselves to create memes out of screen grabs, highlighting the ‘red flag behaviors’ that the story was intended to convey.
