Eating Kabuki with your fingers.

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Crafts for Design / Illustration for Design / 2018

Although kabuki is considered by many Japanese to be a serious, classical form of dramatic art, it was originally a form of popular entertainment. The shows were enjoyed by townspeople of all classes, and the actors were the pop stars of the day. These posters sought to reflect this history, and the unconventional, free-spirited origins of Japan's most famous dramatic art form.
