Solution & Cultural Context:
Cinematography played a huge role in communicating the upward journey and visceral feeling of chasing one's potential. We used the camera to convey claustrophobia, the scale and solitude of space and the danger of the ocean deep. It was also crucial in unifying the journeys of the two vessels through similar shot compositions and by highlighting their circular similarities. Shots were inspired by an array of artistic, literary and scientific sources, such as John Martin, Jules Verne and NASA.
