Stop the Wedding

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / White Pencil - Creativity for Good / Advertising & Marketing Communications - Not for Profit / 2015

Every day, all over the world, 39,000 girls become child brides. Plan Norway stops child weddings in the field every day. But, because Plan's work is so far from our reality, people fail to understand the urgency of supporting their efforts. To get their attention, Trigger planned a fake wedding in which 12-year-old Thea would marry 37-year-old Geir. Thea's fictional blog sparked outrage among people who had previously failed to react. Trigger mobilised the world with the hashtag #stopthewedding, recruiting thousands of supports for Plan. As a result of the campaign, the Norwegian Government has announced that they'll take an international lead in the fight against child marriage.
