Emily's Oz

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Film Advertising Crafts / Production Design for Film Advertising / 2015

To demonstrate the universal power of entertainment for Comcast, Goodby Silverstein & Partners New York asked Emily, a seven-year-old who is blind, to tell the world what she sees when she watches the Wizard of Oz. Each step of the process was documented, culminating in the shoot day, on which Emily, her family and the crew got to see, feel and experience Emily's vision. That vision then became a touching 60-second TV spot. GS&P conducted an exhaustive national casting process, contacting schools for the blind and organisations around the country. They were looking for someone whose love for movies and life was contagious and inspiring, whose imagination you would admire and whose experience watching TV you could even come to envy. That's who they found in Emily.
