In relaunching an iconic Pelican Books imprint for a new generation of young autodidacts, the key objectives were to make the books accessible and distinctive. Available in paperback and to read online, the physical and web editions were designed in tandem to ensure a coherent and distinctive visual language across all formats. The site was designed to get people reading in as few steps as possible, with no visual clutter between the reader and the books. The user interface was kept clean and functional, with an emphasis on typography and readability, allowing readers to navigate the site and the books with ease.
